Destin Coworking Space Beachworx Celebrates Five Years in Business

Beachworx, Destin, Florida’s premiere coworking space announces its fifth anniversary and marked the occasion on Wednesday August 9, 2023 to celebrate International Coworking Day.

The coworking facility hosted an open house and welcomed current and previous members of its community. The event took place on Beachworx’s main coworking floor, and included light bites, libations and sweet treats provided by former member, Bonne Vie Specialty Custom Cakes and Desserts. Shortbread cookies featuring Beachworx’s iconic sailboat and skyline logo were a big hit.

“We were pleased to include a former member as a vendor for this event,” said Steven Franco, CEO. “That’s what Beachworx is all about. Community. Once someone has been a member of our community, they’re always a friend whose business we’re happy to include and support.”

It’s this sense of community that differentiates Beachworx from other coworking spaces, Franco notes, and it is that community which has supported the coworking facility, helping it survive and thrive over the last five years.

In 2015 Franco purchased Destin Commerce Center, the 25,000 sf, four-story office building on Hwy 98 in which Beachworx resides. When a tenant scheduled to move into the third floor defaulted, it left Franco with a partially built-out space and no prospective tenants. Despite more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience as a leasing agent, principal and investor, his response wasn’t to find another tenant, it was to utilize coworking as a solution to this vacancy.

Beachworx opened on the third floor of the Destin Commerce Center in May of 2018 with 9 offices, 24 hot desks in the open coworking area known as The Hub, and three meeting rooms. Demand for affordable office space with flexible terms has persisted over the years so that Beachworx now offers 13 private offices on the third floor and six executive suites on the second floor. It also recently converted one of those executive suites into a podcast studio.

The hot desk coworking memberships and the suites offer flexible commitments with access to amenities that save users time and money. Reliable wifi, digital services and meeting room access are included in a monthly membership, which can be canceled with just 30 days notice. “No other commercial real estate option is that flexible or affordable,” Franco explains.

“And, again,” Franco adds, “the community is what really separates our modern coworking space from other commercial real estate solutions. We offer weekly networking, educational events targeted to small businesses and entrepreneurs and we host events with our partners, like the Small Business Development Council, chambers of commerce and various veterans groups.”
